Gardner development committee reviews quarterly progress on major infrastructure. Mayor Michael Nicholson reported ongoing Waterford Community Center renovation with plumbing and electrical work advancing; the city is exploring 91,000 dollar in parking lot resurfacing and ramp funding. Economic and Community Development Director Jason Stevens detailed the Rear Main Street Revitalization's 922,357 dollar utility cost overrun from National Grid, substantially above the original 260,000 dollar estimate.
The committee learned the Maki Park project is in final stages with completion expected soon, and the North Central Pathway's 25 percent design has been submitted to MassDOT for review; the city also applied for a MassTrails grant of up to 250,000 dollars. Stevens reported a 231,000 dollar PARC grant agreement for Ovila Case park equipment improvements has been received and will come before the committee next meeting for review prior to city council approval.
