Community board reallocates $140,000, eliminates Laundry Love project

Gardner redirects $140K in CDBG funds to garden expansion, cuts Laundry Love. The Community Development Steering Committee voted unanimously to reallocate $140,000 in FY2025 Community Development Block Grant funds and $9,000 from FY2022-23 based on guidance from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities that public social service projects cannot extend beyond March 31, 2027. Chairperson Jason Stevens and Assistant Director Amy Yuhasz brought the revised allocation to the committee, which voted 5-0 to fund the St.
Paul's Community Garden Expansion with $45,635 and allocate $6,865 for program delivery. The shift, which adds three months to funding for three existing PSS programs, eliminates the Laundry Love project because Massachusetts limits each grant to five PSS activities.
