GARDNER — Finance Committee approved two strategic planning measures and $230,470 in enterprise transfers. The Committee voted to advance the Housing Production Plan and Municipal Surplus Property Plan to the full City Council; the housing plan identifies a benchmark of 47 to 94 residential units annually and emphasizes diversifying housing types for the city's aging population. Director Stevens reported the surplus property plan reviewed approximately 212 city-owned parcels and identified seven as buildable.
The Committee also recommended four enterprise transfers: $100,000 for Department of Public Works vehicle repairs and overtime, $40,000 for water meter replacement, $40,470 to reimburse the General Fund from sewer operations, and $50,000 to address a sewer utilities deficit. The city will continue health insurance with Blue Cross under the existing plan with a 12 percent increase for the upcoming fiscal year.
