GARDNER — Finance Committee votes on compensation and donations but holds capital items. The Gardner Finance Committee unanimously recommended two ordinances establishing pay rates for temporary employees filling unionized positions and adjusting non-union department-head and golf-course staff compensation on February 24. Mayor Michael Nicholson presented the advisory FY2027 Capital Improvement Plan, a 28-project roadmap for capital borrowing guiding roughly $12.5 million in FY2027 requests.
Committee members held $256,200 in water-enterprise appropriations for James Street Pump Station repairs and $51,200 for a Mass Trails Grant engineering match, pending further review. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend six donation acceptances spanning the Council on Aging, animal shelter, youth center, police community policing, Gardner Community Action Team, and fire department.
