Finance Subcommittee approves higher pre-K tuition and advances roof contract.
School Subcommittees · Meeting of May 5, 2026
Gardner Finance Subcommittee unanimously approves pre-kindergarten tuition increases and advances middle school roof project. Full-day tuition rises from $2,600 to $2,840 annually and half-day from $1,300 to $1,480, the first adjustment in several years, recommended jointly by the Program Director, Special Education Director, Finance Director, and Superintendent Dr. Mark Pellegrino.
Director of Finance and Operations Mr. Mark Hawke reported multiple expense lines in deficit, including Long Term Substitutes, Special Education Substitutes, District Copier and Postage, Out-of-District and Collaborative services, and Gardner Elementary electricity. The Gardner Middle School roof bid came in high; the Mayor seeks to transfer additional funds from the GES Unexpended Bond Proceeds account to cover the overage, with Owner's Project Manager and Engineers recommending immediate action to avoid further delay costs.
