Gardner CDBG Committee approves prior-year fund reallocation for FY2026 application

Community Development Block Grant Steering Committee · Meeting of February 24, 2026

Gardner CDBG Committee backs prior-year fund reallocation for FY2026 application. The Committee voted 4-0 with Mayor Michael Nicholson abstaining to allocate $140,000 in FY2025 funds and $9,000 in FY2022-23 funds to continue existing public social service grants, while reserving the new FY2026 application mainly for the Downtown Improvements Phase 6 project on City Hall Avenue and program administration. The city can request up to $875,000 in FY2026 funds.

The Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center withdrew its application due to Davis-Bacon prevailing wage costs, and St. Paul's Community Garden project was reclassified from social service to public facility improvement, allowing all five requested social service projects to be funded.
