Gardner committee advances $875,000 CDBG plan with social service, infrastructure focus.

Gardner's Economic and Community Development Committee unanimously endorsed the FY2026 Community Development Block Grant recommendations, totaling $875,000 with allocations of $30,000 to Gardner Community Action Committee, $4,500 to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Laundry Love Program, $15,000 to Gardner Athletic Program scholarships, and $15,000 to Voices of Truth. Reallocated funds from prior years will support Downtown Phase 6 infrastructure work on City Hall Avenue, including street lighting, curbing, sidewalks, and accessibility improvements between Connor Street and Pleasant Street.
The committee voted two to zero to recommend City Council adoption of an ordinance moving sign regulations out of the zoning code into a general ordinance for easier future modification.
