GARDNER — The Redevelopment Authority reviewed a significant electrical cost overrun for the Rear Main Project North. National Grid's estimate of $922,000 exceeded the original $260,000 estimate by 350 percent. Jason Stevens, City Planning Executive Director, noted the original estimate was made under prior direction to begin construction and support a Housing Works grant application, which was awarded.
Judy Mack questioned whether the Authority had been informed of potential cost overruns; Chair Tim Horrigan said he had no recollection of such notice. Budget savings from related project components, Wilkins Road paving and site upgrades, totaled approximately $750,000, bringing available funding to roughly $922,000.
