Retirement Board · Meeting of August 27, 2026

GARDNER — The Contributory Retirement Board unanimously approved a $1,707.87 retroactive membership makeup payment for school employee Kay Calawa, erroneously withheld from membership at the start of her employment on September 2, 1997; the 11-month makeup period (September 2, 1997, through August 30, 1998) was approved at the original cost despite delays caused by VOYA's failure to notify the member or administrator of changed forms. Board Administrator Cheryl Bosse also reported discovering that Ms. Calawa had been paid incorrectly for hours worked over three school years (2022-2025), with a May 2025 retro payment correcting the error and requiring a half day of recalculation work.

The Board approved Warrant #08/26 totaling $726,817.19, including pension payroll of $522,933.17 and annuity payments of $117,338.25, and unanimously approved the Actuarial Valuation Draft Report from Stone Consulting, Inc.
