Gardner Traffic Commission implements new meeting procedures and pursues crosswalk safety funding. The commission, chaired by Deputy Chief Nicholas Maroni and including Public Works Director Dane Arnold and City Councilor Paul Tassone, unanimously approved minutes and adopted administrative changes effective immediately: all public and council agenda items will be tracked with assigned numbers, and beginning with the next meeting, all sessions will be audio and video recorded. The commission authorized pursuit of grant funding through DPW, Police, and Community Development to install illuminated crosswalk lights on Main Street near Sweeney Park following resident safety complaints; Deputy Chief Maroni will forward to Councilor Dernalowicz details on Massachusetts General Law Chapter 85 truck exclusion requirements for Stephanie Drive, noting that required engineering studies may prove cost-prohibitive.
