Gardner Traffic Commission voted to advance safer-streets grant demonstration and trial three-way stop. The commission voted unanimously to implement a grant-funded project placing speed cushions designed to allow emergency vehicles passage at two locations on Pine Street, one on Nichols Street, and one on Pearl Street. Deputy Chief of Police Nicholas Maroni chairs the commission, which also voted unanimously to implement a 60-day trial of a three-way stop with flashing signs at Cottage Street and Park Street, addressing intersection sight-line and speeding concerns.
City Engineer Rob Oliva proposed the trial as the most cost-efficient approach.
